communities of practice - professional/corporate/government - cop enviornment
Detailed Description:
People today are trying to juggle many responsibilities; they work, go to school, are parents, etc. Finding the time to balance all aspects of one's life is difficult and finding the time to live a healthy lifestyle can seem nearly impossible. People prioritize various aspects of their lives and many times choose the quick fix or easy solution when it comes to what they eat. A Community of Practice environment is the appropriate model for addressing this learning problem. Learners will be faced with ill-defined, realistic and authentic situations. Through the use of online technologies learners will “build a reciprocal interchange of ideas, data, and opinions.”
The audience will be motivated to participate in this environment because they have identified a need to change their life. They want to live healthier lives but have trouble applying their knowledge to strategies that will work for them. The learners are social individuals who enjoy sharing life experiences and knowledge with others. This CoP will focus on Interdisciplinary Topics. The content will include strategies for Time Management, Motivation (Psychological), and Nutrition.
Learning Outcomes:
The learner will be able to:
- Identify strategies to continue motivation for living a healthy lifestyle
- Develop a plan of action and strategies for meal planning and cooking
- Generate and share new knowledge that will enable healthy living and diet
- Reflect on strategy outcomes and refine their solutions for future practice
